more snow!?!?….yippeeeee

the next day we went to mamsie’s for our usual friday visit and spent the night. the next day we heard that more snow was likely. c and i talked. i’ve dreamed of my kids – who never have known life in the country – to experience snow as i knew it growing up.

i wanted to share my memories of watching a field fill with snow, slowly and steadily, of tall pines towering over your head with their needles covered in icicles like huge delicate ice giants, of walks in a quiet, sugar-coated wood just after a snowfall, of tall snowmen and acres of snow waiting to be made into balls. all this and more i wanted them to tuck away in their chest of memories.

we decided not to brave the drive home but to hunker down and enjoy the view. this is what we saw…

(sydney loved the snow. she kept rolling and rolling around in it.)

(as i said before it was wonderful snow for snowballs. evan quickly became a master at them…much to everyone’s dismay.)

(the kids attempted to make snow angels. elise watched carefully and before i knew it she plopped backwards into the snow to give it a try…though what ‘it’ was couldn’t have been more unclear to her.)

(mamsie made some of her grandmother’s beef stew, we rented a movie, had some hot chocolate with marshmallows, and lit a fire to warm our toes.)

good choice.
